I’ll spare you the suspense, this product is awesome and you needed it yesterday. Read on anyway, you’re going to want to know all about this!

THE WINNER OF THE CHILD TRAINING BIBLE GIVEAWAY IS VALERIE G. Thanks to all who entered. Get your own here: www.childtrainingbible.com.

I’m very excited to share my thoughts on the Child Training Bible. I am even more excited to have one under my own roof! Created and copyrighted by Mindy Dunn, this product was designed for a home that wants to raise children “…in the training and instruction of the Lord” (Ephesians 6:4). According to the website: “The Child Training Bible is a tool that allows parents and children (and anyone that loves the Word of God) to go directly to the pages of Scripture for instruction in 20 key areas with a complete section dedicated to the gospel.”

Child Training BibleAs a parent, I have often wished I could quickly bring to mind the perfect Bible verse when I am trying to teach or discipline my children. The Child Training Bible highlights important issues like lying, fighting, and pride, and just the right scripture, which can be used for “…teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.” (2 Timothy 3:16) All you have to do is find the tab with the issue, like anger, then flip to all the tabs that mark Bible verses that deal with anger. Easy-to-read tabs and color coating making finding the right verse a breeze. It’s affordable too, at only $9.

I love that the Child Training Bible allows me to quickly identify the issue and the scripture that is relevant to the situation in my Bible. In so doing, I can correct my children in the moment and in a Biblical manner, while hopefully committing many of the most needed verses to memory! This is what I think is the best part of the Child Training Bible, if you really use it regularly and consistently, your family will easily memorize scripture for a host of issues. And lets face it, it’s not like adults don’t also struggle with pride, fighting and anger, right?

Below, I’ll show you the Child Training Bible that I made, complete with pictures, a few comments on how it works, and the list of the supplies you will need to complete it.

Child training BibleSupplies Provided:

  1. 1 Child Training Bible Key
  2. 3 Scripture Tabbing Charts (double-sided)
  3. Set of Instructions

Supplies Needed (not included):

  1. Your own Bible
  2. Rainbow highlighters with at least 7 colors, which match the tabs.
  3. Rainbow post it tabs in at at least 7 colors, which match the highlighters and tabs
  4. Double sided tape

setupLet me suggest that you do this project when the kids are asleep. It takes some time and concentration.

I chose my favorite Bible, which was a bit larger that the one suggested, but it worked perfectly! Since this is going to be a Bible you reference a lot, I suggest you make it a version you really like. Mine is a John MacArthur Study Bible and has lots of reference note, which I like.

Before I started working, I lined up the cards with the highlighters to get my colors straight. I did the same with the highlighters and put the matching pairs of post its and highlighters together. As the directions suggested, I worked from the top down and left to right. I did one color at a time. I did put a colored tab for each section (with the corresponding color) on the last page of my Bible so that lining up the tabs as I added them was easier and more even.Child Training Bible

As I worked, the Bible started to look more and more like a rainbow with each tab marking a verse. I used a pencil to put the word “anger” or “pride” next to the scripture on pages where multiple verses were highlighted.

I really enjoyed seeing pages come to life with relevant teaching for each category. In many places, one verse was in one color and the next was in another. It was great because often, when we discipline our kids, we are dealing with more than one issue such as anger and fighting or tattling and pride.

Child Training BibleThis project took me a few hours to complete but I really enjoyed it. I suggest making it into a Bible study for yourself. I took the time to read each verse I highlighted. When I was finished, I felt an incredible sense of peace and happiness after completing the project and spending such great time in God’s word.

Here is my final product. (On left)

I hope the Child Training Bible will serve you as I know it will serve our family.
